A 39-year-old woman from Izberbash, Dagestan, has been accused of scamming a local resident out of a gold watch worth 150,000 rubles (approximately $2,000). The incident unfolded after the woman responded to an online advertisement for the luxury timepiece.
The seller, a 27-year-old resident of the Karabudakhkentsky district, agreed to send the watch to the buyer, who promised to pay within a few days. However, instead of fulfilling her promise, the buyer resold the watch to another individual for 250,000 rubles and used the money to pay off personal debts.
When the rightful owner realized she had been deceived, she immediately reported the incident to the police. Authorities are now investigating the case, which highlights the risks of online transactions and the importance of securing payments before handing over valuable items.
These stories reflect a mix of local developments and broader regional issues, underscoring the challenges and progress in Dagestan and beyond.
