Customs officials at Sheremetyevo airport in Russia discovered and seized radioactive watches from a passenger who arrived from China. The incident was reported by the Federal Customs Service on their official Telegram channel. The watches were found during a radiation control check when the passenger was passing through the "green" corridor. The radiation levels detected by a radio-meter spectrometer were 16 times higher than the permissible norm. The 35-year-old Chinese citizen claimed to have bought the watches for personal use, but they were confiscated by customs officials for further examination.
Similar incidents have been reported at customs checkpoints, where individuals try to illegally bring in jewelry or large sums of cash into the country. In this case, the watches were seized to prevent any potential harm from the radioactive material. The confiscated items will undergo expert analysis to determine their level of radiation and potential danger.
