A noticeable change in the Oris Aquis Chronograph is the arrangement of the three sub-dials, now in a "smiley face" format, also known as tri-compax. This new model has tamed dimensions compared to its predecessor, with a stainless steel case of 43.5mm in diameter and a thickness of about 17mm. The unidirectional rotating bezel features a blue ceramic insert.
The dial of the Aquis Chronograph has a gradient blue color that mimics sunlight through water. It showcases three sub-dials at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock, which display the 30-minute counter, 12-hour counter, and small seconds, respectively. The applied indices and central hour and minute hands are coated in white Super-LumiNova, providing excellent visibility in low-light conditions. The chronograph seconds hand features a lollipop aperture. A black date window is positioned at 6 o'clock, within the 12-hour counter, and a detailed minute/seconds track runs along the outermost perimeter.
Powering the Aquis Chronograph is the Oris 771 movement, based on the Sellita SW510. It has 27 jewels, operates at a frequency of 28,800vph (4Hz), and boasts a power reserve of 62 hours. The movement is visible through the exhibition case back, adorned with Oris' signature red rotor.
Water resistance is rated at 300 meters, and the watch comes with a tapered three-link steel bracelet and a patented security folding clasp with fine adjustment and extension.
The Oris Aquis Chronograph offers a refreshing update to the classic Aquis series, with a more refined design, improved proportions, and enhanced functionality. It is a timepiece that will appeal to both Oris enthusiasts and those looking for a reliable and stylish chronograph option.
