The Finnish watchmaking scene has a new player - Vuollé Watches. Founded by Jere-Juuso Vuorela and Nuutti Helala, the brand aims to make a difference in the dull watch scene in Finland. The idea initially started with using ready-to-go movements and cases, but it quickly evolved into creating custom cases and hand-finished movements.
Jere-Juuso and Nuutti both graduated from The Finnish School of Watchmaking, where they honed their skills. After working together and reminiscing about their school days, they decided to brighten up the Finnish watchmaking industry with their own designs.
Their debut watch, the Kurimus, showcases a mix of styles and finishes. Inspired by the city of Tampere, known as the "Manchester of Finland," the watch features shades of grey to reflect the country's often gloomy weather. The guilloche dial and manual wind movement add a touch of old-school charm.
Vuollé Watches takes pride in every aspect of their timepieces. From the handmade watch box to the metal warranty cards, they strive to make every part special. Instead of using newer generation movements, they opted for reworked New Old Stock (NOS) vintage movements, known for their impeccable design.
The Kurimus is just the beginning for Vuollé Watches. They are already working on their next model, a thin divers watch with a manual movement. They also plan to offer custom watch dials for customers in small batches.
With their respect for traditional watchmaking, simplicity, and industrial influences, Vuollé Watches aims to create timepieces that can be worn everywhere, from the office to a fancy party. Their unique approach sets them apart in the world of independent watchmaking.
